Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes. A trial lesson is available upon request, free of charge.
However, if the student decides to continue with Openhouse after the trial period, this lesson will be included in the invoice.
In some instances, students may need to catch up on content prior to joining our lessons. To help bridge the knowledge gap, we may provide materials for students to preview prior to the lessons. This is offered at the discretion of OHE on a case-by-case basis. In such circumstances, given the detailed preview already provided to students, a trial lesson does not apply, and the invoice must be settled in full prior to the first lesson.

Why is the entrance test required?
We understand that students differ in what they have learnt at school, and they have different strengths and areas to focus on.
We see the entrance test as an invaluable opportunity for our teacher to understand your learning progress before you join any class. Based on your performance, our teacher will be able to determine the class that suits your needs the most in order to optimise your learning experience at Openhouse.

What is the absence policy?
At Openhouse, we take attendance seriously. This is to ensure our students get the most out of their learning experience and to ensure they are on track. This means you are expected to attend all lessons and complete the corresponding homework for each lesson.
We understand that on occasion, face-to-face students may not be able to attend in person, so you are welcome to join our lesson online but please let us know at least ONE day in advance.
If you are absent from a lesson, you need to notify us via an email to info@openhouseeducation.com.au or through our online platform. We will arrange an alternative lesson if there is another class that is studying the same material. Alternatively, you will need to catch up on learning using resources uploaded to our online platform. Of course, you are welcome to ask questions either online or in person.
No credit or refund is given for absences.

Do you offer support outside of class?
We understand that students often have questions outside of class. You shouldn't need to wait for the next lesson to have them answered. That is why at Openhouse, you can ask questions outside of class using our online platform at any time, or book a time to ask in person. We do encourage you to show your attempt to help you improve problem solving skills, and to help our teachers understand gaps in your knowledge.
In addition, you have access to an online repository of resources to help you with additional revision and exam preparation.
We also have a quiet study area available to all students looking for a quiet place to focus on their studies.
